Craftsman's favorites - Paus worklifts

Lift technology

Trailer-mounted work platforms are very popular, especially among craftsmen. They should be robust, compact and easy to operate. With exactly these features they have been successfully marketed by Paus for years. Currently, the TÜV has confirmed the safe operability by a renewed 5-year type test for all 3 trailer lifts of Paus.

With the big driver's license reform in 1999, the trailer access platform market has changed a lot. At least for many work platform rental companies, which since then have had to make sure that driving license holders have an extra trailer license (class BE).

In craft businesses, the situation is different. Many have large towing vehicles to transport tools and materials with trailers. Or to pull trailer-mounted cranes and working platforms to the job site. Often, the boss pays for the additional trailer driver's license for his employees in order to be able to operate flexibly with the entire team.

"In the rental company sales channel, we primarily sell to companies for whom quality and long service life as well as spare parts supply are important," says Klaus Helming, Sales Manager Lift Technology at Paus. "But in the tradesmen segment, we continuously market relevant numbers of units, although - or precisely because - we have hardly changed our trailer lifts in terms of technology and design in recent years. Currently, demand is even increasing because many companies are making replacement investments and relying on tried and tested equipment."

In contrast to many other manufacturers, Paus has refrained from 'breeding up' its trailer platforms. As before, the machines get by without much technology. No load moment
limitation, no microprocessors and semiconductors on circuit boards, no complex power and cable routing in highly complex boom geometries. Trailer work platforms from Paus operate with simple electro-hydraulic drive technology. Electrical impulses of the joysticks are passed through quasi directly to the proportional valve technology of the hydraulics. This makes the control of the platforms super simple, very sensitive and at the same time not susceptible to repair.

There is no range limitation with trailer lifts from Paus. At full basket load, the boom system can be driven up to the end positions. Klaus Helming says: "Our customers emphasize the high stability of the platforms, which is indispensable for all manual applications. This is another reason why our trailer lifts are rightly called 'Worklift'."

The design of Paus trailer platforms has not changed either. Emsbüren still relies on an articulated telescopic boom system. This makes the models, which are offered with 16, 18 and 21 m working height, very compact. The driving characteristics are excellent due to an axle placed relatively far back. The boom sections are made of aluminum, while the rest of the structure is made of steel. All lines and cables are routed outside the boom system, making maintenance and repair very easy for any specialist company.

"Trailer mounted platforms have advantages over light truck mounted platforms, of course. Taxes and insurance are considerably cheaper. And since there's no carrier vehicle with engine, transmission and steering, the universally quoted 'total cost of ownership' is super favorable with trailers."
