Trailer crane beats tower crane

Lift technology

Even major construction and renovation work can often be handled well with compact and lightweight equipment. This is shown by the example of a church roof renovation in Veitsbronn (near Nuremberg). There, the roofing company Gräbner has completed tasks with the Paus PTK 31 for which a tower crane would have been too small or too large.

The access routes and space conditions in inner-city, but also historical construction projects, are often a challenge when planning the use of machine technology. In the case of the church roof renovation of the Evang.-Luth. congregation in Veitsbronn, the roofing company Gräbner from Uehlfeld was able to skillfully stage its Paus PTK 31 trailer crane. And this despite - or even because of - the difficult conditions on site. Without further ado, the trailer crane was lifted by truck-mounted crane over the wall into the inner courtyard of the church. From there, it lifted tools and materials steadily and without high costs to every spot on the roof surface during the entire renovation phase.

The owner of the roofing company, Daniel Lösch, reports: "Originally, we had tried to position a conventional tower crane outside the church wall. We found that the boom only reached to the ridge of the roof. Alternatively, we would have needed a large tower crane with a 35 m reach and 35 m height. However, such a crane would have been underutilized and also very expensive. In addition, we would have had problems with access with such large equipment."

Functions of technical equipment help enormously
Once the trailer crane had been lifted into the courtyard, the powerful hydraulic travel or wheel drive again proved helpful. Mr. Lösch and his team were thus able to reach the positioning at the installation site with centimeter precision without a towing vehicle. The standard lowerable rear axle helped to ensure that the ground was not too badly affected during maneuvering.

In the further erection process, the advantages of the Paus support technology became apparent. The supports are variably adjustable in width and thus each of the four supports could be placed at the best possible position on safe surfaces and paths.

Thanks to the automatic support leveling, uneven floors and the use of sufficiently large support shims were no obstacle when setting up the Paus PTK 31.

Powerful companion for many years
Roofing contractor Gräbner has been using the Paus trailer crane for 9 years to their complete satisfaction. Daniel Lösch comments: "We use the crane on almost all roofing and tinsmith construction sites. Our PTK 31 lifts roof battens, roof tiles, machines and more up to a weight of 1,600 kg. The extension length of almost 31 m is perfectly adequate for 90% of construction sites. And due to the low towing capacity of 3.5 t, our own vehicles can pull the trailer crane.  All that is required is a BE driving license.

On this and many other construction sites, the compact dimensions of the Paus PTK 31 play a very advantageous role. "The width of only 1.99 m and the height of only 2.45 m enables us to always bring the crane close to the place of operation," Daniel Lösch is pleased. In the retracted home position, the trailer is only 8.8 m long, including the towbar.

The proven radio remote control allows all crane functions to be controlled sensitively. It can be operated intuitively. For example, when positioning the infinitely adjustable hydraulic articulated arm, which achieves a reach of 9.2 m when fully extended.

Accessories as far as the eye can see

A wide range of tools can be attached to the hook of the PTK 31, making the trailer crane a real all-rounder. In addition to roof tile tongs, tipping troughs, solar module distributors and pallet forks, roof tile distributors and long material forks are also available.

Alternative drive technology

In order to be able to operate the Paus trailer crane emission-free and fuel-saving, especially during operations in buildings, customers will find a 400 V electric drive. It supplements the combustion engine installed as standard and ensures all crane and travel drive functions.

Service

The Paus service network offers maintenance and repairs of Paus trailer cranes all over Germany and Europe. In addition, training courses for the proper operation of the machines take place via many Paus Service Network partners. The crane operator can obtain spare parts in shortest time and with high availability via Paus' own online spare parts portal.
