PTK 31 – PAUS sets new standards in the range of trailer cranes
For more than 35 years now, Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH provides convincing solutions in the sector of lifting technology. The aluminium trailer crane SkyWorker is one of the most successful products in this range. Customers worldwide really appreciate the excellent quality and user-friendliness of the SkyWorker. To meet the market’s growing demands, PAUS developed a follow-up model of this popular machine. “With the new type PTK 31, PAUS is raising the bar considerably“, says Mr. Klaus Helming, sales manager for lifting equipment.
Compared to the previous type, the newly designed supports of the PTK 31 provide even more flexibility. The combination of fold-away and telescopic supports enlarges the range of applications considerably. The supports can be extended separately and the new programming ensures easy load control for each support. Maximum payload is about 1600 kg which - despite the reduced supporting width - is 400 kg more compared to the previous model.
Moreover, the usability of the trailer crane is improved by means of a self-levelling mechanism for the support device. At the push of the button, the crane can be moved perfectly into horizontal position, irrespective of the ground condition. This also applies to uphill roadways or steps for example.
The retractable drawbar is a special feature in the crane sector that is finally used on the new PAUS crane, too. Hereby, the setting-up length can be reduced about 2 m which is an important advantage when working on narrow construction sites.
The hydraulic drive unit was revised as well. In 1994, PAUS already used the force-locking heavy-duty wheel drive.
On the new SkyWorker, the rear axle may be lowered and fixed hydraulically permitting steady power transmission to the ground and avoiding scraping effects of the tandem axle. If requested, operation of the drive unit can also be effected via radio-remote control.
Furthermore, the drive variants of the new SkyWorker have been improved. By using modern variable capacity pumps, the engines can be driven at load-related rotational speed now. This innovation allows considerable savings with regards to fuel consumption.
The new energy regulating system is unique and available as option for the new crane. Besides the combustion engine the crane may also be operated by means of a 220 V plug socket achieving the same payloads with output rates up to 8 KW. So, the user is offered new application possibilities, even in closed halls or in noise guarded areas as well as in environmental areas.
Like the previous type, the PTK 31 can also be equipped with a working basket. But the new type also involves innovations the users will benefit from. Already before transportation the basket may be mounted to the PTK 31, so it is not necessary to arrange for separate transportation of the basket. Consequently, the new PTK 31 combines two machines in one: a standard trailer crane with a hoisting height of 31 m and a payload of 1.6 tons on the one hand and a standard trailer-mounted working platform with a working height of 27 m and a basket load of 250 kg on the other hand. Both variants have been tested and approved in accordance with the valid DIN standards EN 13000 and EN 280.
Of course, PAUS also optimized the quality of the chassis. Besides the primer by cataphoretic painting and the powder coating, the chassis also received a cavity sealing by wax coating from the inside and consequently it is completely rust-proof.
However, for all innovations related to the development of the SkyWorker, PAUS also makes use of proven systems: the hydraulic articulated jib is still used as well as the comfortable radio-remote control with keyboard system providing easy operation and safe handling of the load.
The new PAUS PTK 31 is an intelligent solution optimizing work in many fields of application.
