PAUS LHD-Loader PFL: well-proven technology for international mining and tunnelling

Mining and tunnelling vehicles are an important tradition of Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH. According to the motto “the people who care”, PAUS provides individual solutions developed particularly for the demands in mining and tunnelling.
The LHD-Loaders PFL 8, 12, 18 and 30 represent some of the most popular PAUS products and are working successfully in international mining and tunnelling for many years now. PAUS LHD-Loaders are available with payloads from 1.5 tons to 5.5 tons.

The manoeuvrable and compact LHD-Loaders stand for excellent operating comfort. All clearly arranged operating elements are within good reach from the driver’s seat. The driver’s stand is equipped with two joysticks: one multifunction joystick for driving direction and gear shifting and another joystick for the boom hydraulics. While the LHD-Loader PFL 8 is driven hydrostatically, the PFL 12 – like the PFL 18 and 30 – can also be equipped with a hydrodynamic drive. Depending on the requirements, customers may choose between air-cooled and water-cooled engines complying with exhaust gas emission standards “Tier 3”. The excellent quality of the machines is completed by using Kessler axles for the models PFL 12 to 30.
PAUS LHD-Loaders are designed as per customer’s request; so different bucket types are available, such as side dump bucket or ejector bucket. A special feature is the optional use of hydraulic quick coupling systems, so that attachments like forks, working platforms or lifting booms can be interchanged within minutes.

Another advantage of the LHD-Loaders PFL is the easy maintenance of the machines. Engine components like filter or oil dipstick are easily accessible. The central lubrication bar also covers lubrication points difficult to access; also, the battery box of the PFL is retractable. The clearly arranged hydraulic valves and piping can be reached easily via flaps, too. Countersinking of the screws ensures that the screw heads will not be damaged in tough underground operation. Furthermore, two strong hinge bearings, easy to lubricate and of very sturdy design, make the articulated joint. If necessary, the hinge bearings can be replaced quickly and easily.

And also with regards to the safety aspect, PAUS LHD-Loaders are on top. All models are fitted with underbody and ram protection. The easily accessible fire extinguishing system can be actuated from several points. Of course, the driver’s stand complies with ROPS/FOPS requirements. During downhill tramming in loaded condition, the posi-stop brake ensures safe manoeuvring of the loader.

Many years of operation in international mining and tunnelling projects prove the excellent availability of the LHD-Loaders PFL. Several LHD-Loaders, model PFL 30, with side dump bucket have been supplied to Vietnam recently. Some LHD-Loaders - equipped with a change system consisting of bucket and fork - are also working in “Schacht Konrad”, a nuclear waste deposit near Salzgitter (Germany). Customers worldwide are convinced of the great quality provided by PAUS.
“Providing perfect solutions to the problems our customers are facing” – this is the standard Mr. Szyszka is eager to meet. Another special challenge is the international customer topology enabling Mr. Szyszka to make use of his excellent know-how and experience.

PAUS is a manufacturer of construction machines, hoisting equipment and mining and tunnelling vehicles. According to customer requests, PAUS designs, develops and produces special machines as well as series-production vehicles. Oftentimes, only few units of such machines are produced and consequently wide technical knowledge of the after sales service is indispensable.
Permanent interdepartmental exchange of information is necessary to ensure optimum response to the customers’ requirements. “By consistent flow of information, PAUS will convince the customers even after conclusion of the sale”, assures the new service manager, Mr. Stefan Szyszka.
