PAUS Scaler TSL-S7: safety combined with exceptional flexibility
Safety and power: two top qualities that can be found in the PAUS Scaler for mining and tunnelling. The Scaler series TSL-S is the very latest and most flexible solution of highest performance for securing hanging walls in underground mining and tunnelling.

In mining, safety has to be given top priority; unfortunately, this duty is neglected quite often. Especially in case of small cross-sections or short advances, the existing scaling equipment often is too inflexible. And manual scaling normally is out of question. The concept of the PAUS TSL-S Scalers is the combination of manoeuvrability and flexibility: small dimensions, extreme manoeuvrability provided by the articulated joint and a telescopic boom swivelling by +/- 45° make these machines the “quick task force” at the face. After having finished work – which often does not take much time – the machine can be moved to the next site quickly: manoeuvrability and the hydrostatic drive unit prevent special requirements to transportation.
Another advantage is the possibility of applying the impact force to the rock in a very dosed and controlled way. The comparably small hammer (NPK GH 203, 200 kg) protects the hanging roof from further damage caused by too heavy penetration.
The TSL-S ensures rock crushing on the spot without causing further unwanted spalling. The rock is not tackled in an uncontrolled way, but by the hydraulic feed of the telescopic boom acting together with the impact force of the hammer; consequently, smooth dosing is possible.
So, the types TSL-S7 (reach 7.8 m) and TSL-S12 (new; reach 11.5 m) are able to ensure efficient strata control and to cope with hard, solid rock as well as with brittle, soft and fragmented rock, as it is always of utmost importance to be in control of the mountain’s behaviour.
The machine is equipped with a hydrostatic four-wheel drive with power limiting control unit.
