40 years of Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH
High product quality and excellent advice are the basis
of international success
With the quality seal “Made in Germany” and the motto “...the people who care” - representing the way the company sees itself as a top service provider - Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH has gained an excellent reputation on national and international level. Now, the family-owned company celebrated its 40th anniversary. Why now? “Because right now, we have some good reason for celebrating the success we have achieved so far and moreover we are on the threshold of new, extensive growth, particularly in Latin America“ the managing directors Wolfgang und Franz-Josef Paus reported.
The Paus family could welcome some very important persons: the president of the European Parliament, Prof. Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, and the managing director of the Mining Machine Association of VDMA, Mr. Joachim Schmid. All in all, visitors from 25 nations from 5 continents joined the celebration, however, still not all of the countries were represented PAUS Maschinenfabrik is dealing with.
In 1968, the founder of the company, Mr. Hermann Paus, laid the base for the success story by purchasing the premises where the company – having expanded in the meantime – still is located. One year later, the “Newcomer” presented the first machine at BAUMA in Munich; in 1970, the first wheel loader was introduced and one year later this machine could be presented with hydrostatic drive.
From that day, progress was made in quick succession: in the course of few years, PAUS has developed and presented new vehicles for mining and tunnelling, trackless vehicle with flameproof feature, telescopic elevators for roofers, some time later furniture elevators meeting the special requirements of removal agencies. At the same time, an own product line for working platforms in telescopic and articulated-telescopic was designed, both trailer- and truck-mounted.
In 1985, the development of compact forklifts with carrying capacities up 35 tons started – a product demonstrating once more the company’s versatility and the great technical know-how.
PAUS is still proud of having presented a novelty in 1996: the PAUS MultiTELEStar was introduced – the world’s first self-propelled working platform combined with standard telescopic-swivel loader.
No matter, whether construction machines for various applications, working platform or special vehicle are concerned – all product lines permanently receive further development and improvement; it is one of the company’s strengths to develop optimum solutions for the prevailing latest challenges in technology.
In the truest sense of the word, Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH has always been a “Global Player”. Export is done to all parts of the world. In 2001, the representative office in Moscow was established; in 2003, the company and Mr. Rodrigo Torrealba became shareholders of “PAUS Chile Ltda.” based in Santiago, Chile. International business is booming which also became clear during the celebration: “We think that we will triplicate sales within the next three to four years”, Mr. Rodrigo Torrealba predicted in his greeting speech. The extremely positive growth of business in Latin America is caused by an explosive growth in terms of hydro-electrical projects and particularly by the quality standard “Made in Germany” and the excellent advice given by multi disciplinary skilled personnel at highest level. PAUS is also operating in Asia: in 2005, a joint venture for the manufacturing of flameproof personnel and material transporters (Minca) was established near Shanghai. This factory supplies the Chinese market.
Today, the company employing about 200 people – among them 18 trainees and 2 students aiming for their qualification at the university of cooperative education – is a reliable leading name, both on national and international level.
In 2002, business of Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik GmbH was handed over to the sons of the company’s founder: to Mr. Franz-Josef Paus (graduate engineer) and Mr. Wolfgang Paus (business graduate). For them, signs are pointing to growth: in the truest sense of the word, superior / high-quality PAUS products are supposed to “move” quite a lot within the next years.
